Cracks in the roof of the Shri Tuljabhawani Temple

Shri Tuljabhawani Temple

Tuljapur (Solapur District) – Cracks found at the roof and the lower part of the spire of the temple of Shri Tuljabhawani temple, one of the three and a half Shakti Peethas and the Kuladevi of Maharashtra. This came to light after removing the granite from the temple. In this regard, District Collector Dr Sachin Ambase inspected the stones and rocks in the temple and instructed to conduct a structural audit (a thorough inspection to assess the condition of the building to identify possible problems). Assistant Director of the Archaeological Department Jaya Vahane and architect Tejaswini Aphale were present at the time.

Experts from the Archaeological Department would be called to inspect and to ascertain how far were those cracks in the stones, how many more stones had cracks? Development work was underway in the temple under the guidance of the Archaeological Department. The Archaeological Department is trying to retain the dagadi construction in the same condition.

Editorial Perspective

If there had been a temple committee of devotees, the management would have solved the problem in advance without wasting time. Such things happen in the temple as a side effect of Government’s takeover of the temple management.
