Maharashtra ranks first in the list of clean States

Navi Mumbai ranks third in the list of clean cities

Mumbai – Maharashtra has bagged the top spot among States in the Union Government’s annual cleanliness rankings for urban areas, while Navi Mumbai has been ranked third in the list of cleanest cities. Among the cleanest States, Maharashtra ranks first, Madhya Pradesh ranks second and Chhattisgarh ranks third. President Draupadi Murmu presented the awards to representatives of cities and States at an award ceremony in Delhi.

In the list of cleanest cities, Indore (Madhya Pradesh) is ranked first, followed by Surat (Gujarat). This award was started every year in 2016 under ‘Swachh Bharat Mission Urban’. The awards for the year 2023 cover 4,416 urban local bodies, 61 cantons and 88 small towns.
