1. 9th November 2019 : A 5-Judge Bench of the Supreme Court ordered the transfer of 2.77 acres of land in Shriram Janmabhoomi to Shriram Janmabhoomi Trust for the construction of Shriram Temple. In exchange for this land, the Court ordered the transfer of 5 acres of land to the Sunni Waqf Board in Ayodhya for building a masjid.
2. 5th February 2020 : As per the Supreme Court order, the Union Government established the Shriram Janmabhoomi Tirtha Kshetra Trust, which had 15 members, of which 9 were permanent and 6 were nominated.
3. 6th February 2020 : The Union Government launched the ‘Shriram Temple Construction Campaign’ with a donation of Re 1.
4. 19th February 2020 : The first meeting of Shriram Janmabhoomi Tirtha Kshetra Trust was held in New Delhi. Mahant Nritya Gopal Das was elected President, while Mr Champat Rai (General Secretary of the Vishva Hindu Parishad) was elected Secretary of the Trust. Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s former Principal Secretary, Mr Nripendra Misra, was elected as the Chairman of the ‘Temple Construction Committee’, while H.H. Swami Govind Dev Giri from Pune was elected the Treasurer of the Trust.
5. 15th March 2020 : Under the leadership of Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath, the Idol of Shriramlalla was moved to another temple temporarily.
6. 5th August 2020 : Prime Minister Narendra Modi laid the foundation stone of Shriram Temple in Ayodhya and the Temple construction began.
7. 15th January 2021 : (Former) President of India, Ram Nath Kovind launched a ‘Donation Campaign’ for the construction of Shriram Temple, through which the Trust raised an estimated Rs 3,500 crore.
8. 1st June 2022 : Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath laid the foundation stone of the Garbha Gruha (Sanctum sanctorum) of Shriram Temple.
9. 25th October 2023 : Prime Minister Narendra Modi accepted the invitation to attend the Abhishek Ceremony of Shriram on 22nd January 2024.
Proposed events in the construction of Shriram Temple
1. 22nd January 2024 : Consecration of Shriram’s Idol.
2. 27th January 2024 : The Temple will be opened to the general public.
3. December 2024 : Construction of the second phase of the Temple will be completed.
4. December 2025 : Construction of the third and final phase of the Temple will be completed.
