Important past & proposed events in the construction of Shriram Temple

1. 9^th November 2019 : A 5-Judge Bench of the Supreme Court ordered the transfer of 2.77 acres of land in Shriram Janmabhoomi to Shriram Janmabhoomi Trust for the construction of Shriram Temple. In exchange for this land, the Court ordered the transfer of 5 acres of land to the Sunni Waqf Board in Ayodhya for building a masjid.

2. 5^th February 2020 : As per the Supreme Court order, the Union Government established the Shriram Janmabhoomi Tirtha Kshetra Trust, which had 15 members, of which 9 were permanent and 6 were nominated.

3. 6^th February 2020 : The Union Government launched the ‘Shriram Temple Construction Campaign’ with a donation of Re 1.

4. 19^th February 2020 : The first meeting of Shriram Janmabhoomi Tirtha Kshetra Trust was held in New Delhi. Mahant Nritya Gopal Das was elected President, while Mr Champat Rai (General Secretary of the Vishva Hindu Parishad) was elected Secretary of the Trust. Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s former Principal Secretary, Mr Nripendra Misra, was elected as the Chairman of the ‘Temple Construction Committee’, while H.H. Swami Govind Dev Giri from Pune was elected the Treasurer of the Trust.

5. 15^th March 2020 : Under the leadership of Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath, the Idol of Shriramlalla was moved to another temple temporarily.

6. 5^th August 2020 : Prime Minister Narendra Modi laid the foundation stone of Shriram Temple in Ayodhya and the Temple construction began.

7. 15^th January 2021 : (Former) President of India, Ram Nath Kovind launched a ‘Donation Campaign’ for the construction of Shriram Temple, through which the Trust raised an estimated Rs 3,500 crore.

8. 1^st June 2022 : Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath laid the foundation stone of the Garbha Gruha (Sanctum sanctorum) of Shriram Temple.

9. 25^th October 2023 : Prime Minister Narendra Modi accepted the invitation to attend the Abhishek Ceremony of Shriram on 22^nd January 2024.
