Teacher conducting SIR process assaulted by three religious fanatics !

SIR (Special Investigation Revision – voter list revision process).

Beed, Maharashtra – Mahfooz Zakir Shaikh, a teacher serving as a Booth Level Officer (BLO) at the Shadi Khana Camp in Peth Mohalla, Parli, was assaulted and threatened with death by Shakir Ahmed Shaikh, Junaid Shaikh, Shoaib Shaikh and another individual while carrying out the voter list revision process at the camp. The assault was reportedly triggered because they objected to the BLO not visiting their house with voter list revision forms. A case has been registered against the four accused at the Parli City Police Station for obstructing government work. The religious fanatics also threatened the teacher, saying, “If you do not withdraw the complaint, we will come out and deal with you.”

Two teachers suspended in Wardha

In a separate incident, two teachers and a Class IV employee in Wardha have been suspended for allegedly delaying work related to SIR registration. Teacher organisations have protested against the action. The Prahar Teachers’ Association has warned that it will return the awards received during the COVID-19 pandemic in protest against the suspensions.

Editorial Perspective

  • This incident exposes the mindset and arrogance of religious fanatics. Strict action must be taken against such offenders !
  • Will any government officer or employee dare to enter Muslim localities to perform official duties if such incidents continue ?
