Maharashtra leads in the number of child abuse cases in the country

Nagpur, Maharashtra – 1.62 lakh cases against child abuse have been registered across the country. There has been an increase of 8.7% in such cases and Maharashtra is leading with the highest number of child abuse cases in the country. National Crime Register Report has reported that Madhya Pradesh is second in position. 20,762 cases have been registered in Maharashtra. Madhya Pradesh at the second place has recorded 20,415, Uttar Pradesh has witnessed 18,682 cases, Rajasthan has reported 9,370 cases while Odisha has 8,240 cases.

1. There have been 14 incidents of rape and murder of minor girls in Maharashtra. Uttar Pradesh ranks first in such crimes wherein incidents of 37 minor girls being murdered after being raped have come to light.

2. Maharashtra ranks second in the country in cases of fatal assault and murder of boys and girls under 18 years of age.

3. Mumbai has the highest number of child abuse cases in the State. 3,174 crimes have been registered in Mumbai, and Nagpur is at the second place in such crimes with the number of 765 crimes recorded. Pune is third with the record of 732 crimes.

The fact that Maharashtra is witnessing highest number of child abuse cases is a shame for the Government agencies ! People need to know about the efforts, which the Government will take to change this situation.
