Kheragarh (Agra) – In a shocking and insensitive statement regarding the recent assault of a minor girl, Samajwadi Party Rajya Sabha MP Ramji Lal Suman said, “This is not such a big issue that Akhilesh Yadav needs to come and meet the victim’s family.” He made this controversial remark on 20 April while visiting the victim’s family, in response to a journalist’s question.

On the night of 17 April, a Dalit minor girl had gone to a programme with her father in a village in this area. Around 1 a.m., Omveer Lodhi, a local resident, kidnapped the girl who was sleeping outside the house and raped her after taking her to a secluded place. The incident sparked outrage across political parties. The Police later arrested the accused from Fatehpur Sikri.

Around 3 p.m. on 20 April, MP Suman, accompanied by other party leaders, met the victim’s family. He spoke privately with the victim’s father for about 20 minutes. When journalists asked whether party president Akhilesh Yadav would visit the family, Suman replied, “Why are you talking like children? This is not such a big issue. We will provide the family with all possible support. There is no need for Akhilesh Yadav to come here.”
