UNESCO should take over the protection of Hindu temples from Pakistan Government

Dara Shikoh Foundation’s complaint to the United Nations against Pakistan

Aligarh (UP) – An Islamic organisation known as ‘Dara Shikoh Foundation’ has lodged a complaint with the United Nations against the Pakistan Government. The organisation, in a letter addressed to the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO), has expressed its objection to the demolition of Hindu temples in Pakistan- occupied Kashmir. It also urged that UNESCO should take over the responsibility of protecting these temples from Pakistan Government. Mohammad Amir Rashid, President of the foundation wrote this letter in which he mentioned that the wall of ‘Sharda Peeth’was
demolished by the Pakistani Government without any Court order to hurt the sentiments of Indians and mainly Hindus on the anniversary of 26/11.

Dara Shikoh Foundation further stated in the letter that…

1. Pakistan Government is deliberately targeting Hindu temples. Without a second thought, it demolished the wall of ‘Sharda Peeth’ so that a coffee house could be built there for Pakistani soldiers.

2. ‘Sharda Peeth’ is a ruined Hindu temple and ancient centre of learning located in the Neelum Valley of PoK.

3. Director General of UNESCO should take decisive action against Pakistan Government.

4. ‘Sharda Peeth’ should be rehabilitated and revived under the leadership of UNESCO.

5. Similarly, the Pakistani Government also demolished the Hinglaj Mata Temple in Pakistan occupied Kashmir. In the last 3-4 weeks, many temples were demolished systematically under Government orders.

6. This is just one example of the intolerance exhibited by the Pakistani Government.
