Beijing (China) – A mysterious pneumonia outbreak in northern China since mid-October is causing global concern, particularly in the aftermath of the Covid-19 pandemic. The World Health Organization (WHO) has taken note of the situation. Measures to close the schools are being taken.

Reports from ProMED, a global disease tracking entity, have highlighted “undiagnosed pneumonia in children in northern China.” Symptoms of the illness include fever, cough, and difficulty breathing, with varying severity requiring hospitalisation for some patients. The outbreak originated in northern China, with a significant number of cases involving children.
The WHO has formally requested detailed information from China, aiming to understand the nature and cause of the outbreak and assist in effective management. However, the WHO has not disclosed China’s response to this request.
