Research of ‘Yāmapuja’ (4 pujas performed during the 4 periods (prahars) of the night) performed on Mahashivratri !

Scientific study conducted by ‘Maharshi Adhyatma Vishwavidyalay’ using the ‘UAS (Universal Aura Scanner)’

‘There is a rule that in the 4 prahars (unit of time approximately equal to 3 hours) of the night of  Mahashivratri, 4 pujas should be performed. This is called ‘Yāmapuja. While performing Yāmapuja in the first prahar one should chant ‘Shri Shivaya Namaha’. In the second prahar, one should chant ‘Shri Shankaraya Namaha’ and in the period of Nisheeth (Note), ‘Shri Samba Sadashivaya Namaha’. In the third prahar, one should chant ‘Shri Maheshwaraya Namaha’ and in the fourth prahar,‘Shri Rudraya Namaha’ thus surrendering oneself.  On Mahashivaratri 2022, ‘Maharshi Adhyatma Vishwavidyalay’ conducted a study on Yāmapuja, using the ‘UAS (Universal Aura Scanner)’. An interpretation and spiritual analysis of the observations in the study are given below.

Note – Nisheeth : ‘If the entire time of a night is divided into 15 equal periods, then each period is called ‘muhurt’. Of them, the 8th muhurt is called ‘Nisheeth’. On Mahashivratri, Shivapuja in the Nisheet-period has a special significance. (Ref. Holy text – ‘Sulabh Jyotish Shastra’) (In the Mahashivratri of 2022, the 8th muhurt was from 12.06 a.m. to 12.54 a.m.)

1.Anlysis of the observations in the study

In this study, the worshipper  performed Yāmapuja on the Shivapindi on Mahashivratri. Using the UAS, readings of the worshipper were taken before performing the puja and after performing the puja. Also, before starting Yāmapuja and after completing it, in each prahar, readings of the Shivapindi were taken.

1 A. Positive effects on the worshipper and on the Shivapindi after performing Yāmapuja on Mahashivratri : Initially, that is before starting Yāmapuja there were negative and positive energies in the Shivapindi. After the worshipper performed puja in the 1st and 2nd prahars, the negative energy in the Shivapindi reduced and its positive energy increased. After the puja in the Nisheeth period was over, the positive energy in the Shivapindi became maximum. After the puja in the 3rd prahar, there was minimal negative energy in the Shivapindi and after the puja in the 4th prahar, the negative energy disappeared. After each puja performed in the 1st to the 4th prahar, the positive energy in the Shivapindi increased, progressively.

Before Yāmapuja, the worshipper was found to have a lot of negative energy and minimal positive energy. After the Yāmapuja was complete, the negative energy of the worshipper reduced markedly and his positive energy increased markedly. This is apparent from the table given below.

2. Spiritual analysis of the readings in the study

2 A. Due to the worship performed by the worshipper with spiritual emotion (Bhav) in each prahar of the Yāmapuja, the Divine consciousness (Chaitanya) of Shiva in that form was attracted to the Shivapindi and emitted into the environment : ‘Sound, touch, form, taste, smell and their energy co-exist’, is a principle of Spirituality. Therefore, wherever there is a Name of a Deity, the energy of that Deity exists. In each prahar, the worshipper performed  worship of the Shivapindi with spiritual emotion while chanting the name of Shiva. Therefore, Divine consciousness of that form of Shiva was attracted to the Shivapindi and emitted into the environment. The study showed that the positive energy in the Shivapindi increased as per the proportion of Divine consciousness emitted from the Shivapindi. Interestingly, the positive energy in the Shivapindi was the highest after the puja in the Nisheeth period. From this, the importance of ‘worshipping Shiva in the Nisheeth period during Mahashivratri’, becomes apparent. As the worshipper absorbed the Divine consciousness of Yāmapuja as per his bhav, the covering of the distressing vibrations on him was greatly reduced and his sattvikta increased. From this, the importance of performing puja with bhav also becomes apparent.

2 B. Reason for finding some amount of negative vibrations in the Shivapindi : In the beginning, when some amount of negative energy was found in the Shivapindi due to atmosphere,  that went on reducing after the puja was performed in the 1st and the 2nd prahar; and the negative energy in the Shivapindi disappeared in the Nisheeth period. After the puja in the 3rd prahar, the negative energy was again detected and it disappeared after the puja in the 4th prahar.  The reason for this is that the Divine consciousness of that particular form of Shiva was attracted to the Shivapindi at every step and emitted from it into the environment. The time after sunset is conducive for  the negative energies and their movement in the environment. As the Divine consciousness of that particular form of Shiva was emitted due to the worship performed in each prahar, a subtle-war began with the evil forces in the environment to counteract the negative energy. As an result of this subtle-war, some negative vibrations were observed reducing around the Shivapindi. Finaly due to the energy emitted from the Shivapindi, the distressing vibrations in the environment reduced and disappeared and the environment became full of Divine consciousness.’
