Egypt warned Israel that Hamas was planning ‘something big’

Cairo (Egypt) – Egypt has claimed that it had issued a prior warning to Israel regarding the impending conflict. An Egyptian intelligence official stated, “We have warned them an explosion of the situation is coming, and very soon, and it would be big. But they underestimated such warnings”. Israel has denied the claim.

Egypt frequently serves as a mediator between Israel and Hamas. It is worth noting that Egypt historically regarded Israel as an adversary and engaged in several armed conflicts with it. Nevertheless, Egypt formally recognised Israel as a sovereign nation only 7 years after the conclusion of the 1973 Arab-Israeli war. Since then, it has been seen as a mediator between Israel and Palestine.
