It is inappropriate for the Prime Minister to make jokes in his speech when Manipur is burning : Rahul Gandhi

New Delhi – “It is inappropriate for the Prime Minister to make jokes during his speech in the Lok Sabha while Manipur is burning. This does not suit the position of Prime Minister. I have been in politics for 19 years and have been to every State in the country; but the condition of Manipur State is serious. The State is divided between Kukis and Meiteis. Narendra Modi has various options available to control the violence in Manipur; but he is doing nothing about it. It is pretty evident why he does not visit Manipur. I am not saying that the Indian army should be called in Manipur. All I want to say is that if the army goes to the State, the violence will end within 2 days”, said Congress leader Rahul Gandhi. Gandhi was speaking at a press conference held in Delhi on 11th August against Prime Minister Modi’s reply to the no-confidence motion in the Lok Sabha.

On the evening of 10th August, when Prime Minister Modi was responding to the no-confidence motion in the Lok Sabha, MPs from the Congress and other opposition parties boycotted it and left the house. Gandhi held a press conference to present his position.

Opposition parties create a ruckus outside the Parliament against the suspension of Adhir Ranjan Chowdhury

Congress leader Adhir Ranjan Chowdhury was suspended due to unruly behaviour. Enraged by this, the INDIA alliance of the opposition parties staged a protest outside the Parliament. Opposing the suspension, Mallikarjun Kharge of the Congress said in the Rajya Sabha that  Chowdhury was suspended for a trivial act of naming Nirav Modi. Congress leader Manish Tiwari said they would go to the Supreme Court against the action of suspension. Rahul Gandhi held a press conference in this matter.
