Uttarakhand : Hindu youth brutally attacked by Muslim youth with swords and sticks in Dehradun

Issue of so-called two-month old objectionable post on social media

Dehradun (Uttarakhand) – On 27th July, a Hindu boy was brutally thrashed by a group of Muslim youths in Patel Nagar in Dehradun over a two-month-old dispute about a social media post. The Muslim mob of 10-12 youth attacked Aman Bhandari with swords and lathis on Thursday evening. The B.Com student was beaten up when he was returning from his college, Sri Guru Ram Rai (SGRR) University, on his motorcycle.

The victim suffered multiple injuries and is currently undergoing treatment at Shri Mahant Indiresh Hospital in Patel Nagar. Before the Police arrived at the spot, the Muslim attackers escaped.

Following the brutal attack on Aman Bhandari, several Hindu organisations staged a protest outside the college and vandalised the scooter of one of the accused parked at the spot. Several Hindu activists also protested at the hospital where victim Aman is undergoing treatment. The victim is said to have received 27 stitches on his head. Police deployed Political Action Committee (PAC) force to control the situation. The Police could arrest four accused with the help of a CCTV camera. One of them is an accused, and the others are family members of the other absconding accused.

Editorial perspective

Despite being in small numbers compared with the number of Muslims in other States, it appears that Muslims in Uttarakhand are becoming dangerous for Hindus. Hindus do not expect such a situation when BJP Government is in the State.
