It is necessary that the generation next should know about the Razakar History ! – Former Maharashtra Governor C. Vidyasagar Rao

Former Maharashtra Governor, C. Vidyasagar Rao added, that the Nizam’s rule was over the Hyderabad state included today’s Telangana, and Districts of Karnataka and Maharashtra. British Government wanted to make a country which would include all the States, while the Nizam had declared that Hyderabad would be an Independent State. And to this end, he had commissioned a standing army of 2 lakh Muslims – the Razakar army. There were large scale massacres at that time. Hyderabad became independent 17 months after the rest of India got Independence.  Islam and Razakar’s are different. It is necessary that coming generations know this History.

Understand the Anti-Hindu history of the Razakars

Razakars were engaged and mobilised at the time of Independence to make Hyderabad an Independent Islamic State. They began to target the majority Hindus. Numerous Hindus were killed. Thousands of women were raped. Anyone demanding a merger with India was attacked. This caused conflict between fundamentalist Razakars and Hindus. Living in Hyderabad became difficult for the Hindus. Finally on the 13th of September 1948 the then Union Home Minister of India Vallabhbhai Patel gave permission for ‘Operation Polo’. In this there was Police action for 5 days in Hyderabad. In it 1,373 Razakars and 807 soldiers of the Nizam’s army were killed. The Indian Army lost 66 soldiers in this action. Finally Hyderabad State merged with India.
