Not a single incident of stone-pelting reported this year in Kashmir

Srinagar (Jammu-Kashmir) – The Police reports show that the incidents of stone-pelting in Kashmir has come down to zero. The reports say that there were no incidents of stone-pelting this year. Last year, five incidents were reported.

Pakistan’s ISI had from 2009 onwards supplied the Kashmir attackers or terrorists with supplies worth Rs 800 crore, says Indian Security agency’s (IB) report. It led to the establishment of some organisations in 2016 at Srinagar. Pakistani agents and their Pakistani handlers provided large sums of money in the Kashmir valley. Through the divisive leaders and underground activists youth were motivated and deputed to stone-pelting.

The efforts taken by the administration of stopping  stone-pelting

The NIA, Police, and other organisations followed a strict policy against stone-pelting.

1. Government stopped money transaction by ‘Hawala’ and funds supplied by foreign countries.

2. They tried means to wean away the youth from religious fanaticism.

3. Sent those accused of stone-pelting to Agra, Tihar and prisons in other States.

Editorial Viewpoint

It is commendable that there were no incidents of stone-pelting. But steps will have to be taken to destroy the jihadi mentality in Kashmir and completely uproot terrorism from Kashmir.
