Jaipur (Rajasthan) – Sarwar Chishti, secretary of ‘Anjuman Syedzadgan’, an association of Khadims (servants) of Ajmer Dargah, has apologised for making a statement that, ‘A woman can make any great man lose self control. Even sage Vishwamitra lost self control due to Menaka’. He was heavily criticised after making this statement.
“I didn’t mean what I said. I meant that the activities of the culprits in the rape scandal are criminal and so they are in jail. If I have unknowingly hurt the sentiments of women in any manner, I express my apology for that. I in no way am justifying the incident. Those are criminal activities. My tongue might have slipped. (Does Chishti’s tongue slip while speaking about Islamic beliefs ? How does his tongue slip only while talking about Hindu beliefs ? – Editor) But I didn’t mean what is being said and spread in the media,” he said.
Sarwar Chishti further said, ‘A film called ‘Ajmer 92’ is going to be released and I had given an interview about it. In that interview, I heavily criticised the accused; but it was not shown. Instead my ‘sting operation’ was done and a statement I made in private was broadcast. (Does Chishti mean that he can say anything about Hindu beliefs in private ? Such people belong in prison and Hindus must protest democratically to demand an action against them – Editor). I am being heavily criticised due to this video.

More than 200 incidents of sexual abuse of Hindu girls in Ajmer in the year 1992 involved few members of the Chishti family, which is the servant of the dargah of Khwaja Moinuddin Chishti. Therefore, Muslims are demanding a ban on the movie ‘Ajmer 92’.
Sarwar Chishti has made provocative statements against the Hindus in the past as well. He also had links with the banned terrorist organisation PFI. His son Adir Chishti has also made derogatory remarks on Hindu Deities. Some of the Chishti Khadims (caretakers) of the Ajmer Dargah were among the accused in this case. The accused Chishtis included Anwar Chishti, Farooq Chishti, and Nafees Chishti.
Editorial Viewpoint
Those who make derogatory remarks about Hindu sages should be put in jail; but as Rajasthan is a Congress-ruled State, fanatic Muslims have a free hand there. |
