Patna (Bihar) – “I am surprised by anyone who says ‘make India a Hindu Rashtra’. What is the need to say so ? There are people of all religions like Muslims, etc. Everyone has the right to worship in their own way. Everyone has the right to practice any religion”, said Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar. He was speaking in regards to the statement made by Pandit Dhirendra Krishna Shastri of Bageshwar Dham about Hindu Rashtra. Pandit Dhirendra Krishna Shastri has been doing the ‘Hanuman Katha’ at Patna for the past 4 days. Chief Minister Nitish Kumar and Deputy Chief Minister Tejashwi Yadav were invited to attend Pandit Dhirendra Krishna Shastri’s ‘Hanuman Katha’. But they refused it.

Making statements about Hindu Rashtra is a violation of the Constitution

Nitish Kumar further said that the Constitution was made with collective consensus. Whoever is talking about Hindu Rashtra on his own accord has no value. The media should inform that, ‘Making such statements is a violation of the Constitution.’ Whoever is talking about Hindu Rashtra were not born during the struggle for Independence. Constitution is for the upliftment of everyone. If the Constitution is to be changed, two-thirds majority in the parliament is required.

Editorial Viewpoint

There are 52 Islamic nations and more than 150 Christian nations in the world. But 100 crore Hindus do not have a single nation of their own. If the majority of Hindus think that ‘our Hindu Rashtra should also be there’, then what is wrong with it ?

Talking about Hindu Rashtra does not violate the Constitution in anyway. The Constitution has been amended 100 times so far. By making one more such amendment, India can be declared a Hindu Rashtra.
