New Delhi – India’s Prime Minister Narendra Modi will be attending France’s National Day on 14th July 2023, in their capital Paris, as a special guest. The Bastille Day Parade is organized in France every year on 14th  July. A contingent of the Indian Armed Forces will also participate in this parade along with the French Army. India’s Ministry of External Affairs has also confirmed this news.

French President Emmanuel Macron expressed his gratitude towards India for accepting his invitation. While circulating a photo of himself with Prime Minister Modi on Twitter he wrote in French : “Cher Narendra, heureux de t’accueillir à Paris comme invité d’honneur du défilé du 14 juillet ! and also in Hindi as प्रिय नरेंद्र, 14 जुलाई की परेड के सम्मानित अतिथिके रूप में तुम्हारा पेरिस में स्वागत कर के मुझे बहुतखुशी होगी।”.

Responding to the tweet Prime Minister Modi said ‘”Merci mon ami @EmmanuelMacron! Je me rejouis de feter le 14 juillet et notre partenariat strategique avec toi et le peuple francais,” tweeted PM Modi in French that translates to “Thank you my friend @EmmanuelMacron! I look forward to celebrating Bastille Day and our Strategic Partnership with you and the French people.”

India’s Ministry of External Affairs said that the Prime Minister’s visit has a special significance as it marks 25 years of India and France’s strategic partnership. Prime Minister Modi’s visit is expected to take the India-France strategic partnership to the next level by setting new and ambitious goals for cultural, scientific and economic cooperation. On 14th July 1789, the people of France stormed the Bastille belonging to the monarchy. This was the beginning of the French Revolution. Hence this is a very important event in French history and they celebrate this event as their ‘National Day’.
