Possibility of another ‘Surgical strike’ on Pakistan by India

  • Case of terrorist attack in Poonch
  • Claims by Abdul Basit, former Ambassador of Pakistan to India

(‘Surgical strike’ means covert action against terrorists)

Abdul Basit, former Ambassador of Pakistan to India

Islamabad (Pakistan) – “The threat of another surgical strike by India is currently being discussed in Pakistan. It could also be an air strike. As India holds Shanghai Cooperation Meet (SCO) and G20 presidency this year, I question if ‘it (India) will take this step ?’ There are elections next year and the risk of any attack will be much higher. There may be an attack on Pakistan before the general elections”, such fear has been expressed by Abdul Basit, former Ambassador of Pakistan to India. Basit has made this statement with respect to the terrorist attack on an Army truck in Kashmir’s Poonch on 20th April in which 5 soldiers martyred. He expressed this fear in a video published on his YouTube channel.

Regarding the attack in Poonch Basit said, “whoever attacked the Indian Army in Poonch only targeted the military, not civilians. They may be Mujahedeen (fighters), fighting for their rights. Whenever there is any movement, the military is targeted and not civilians. (In Kashmir, terrorists have not started a movement but it is Jihad. Basit is justifying the ghastly act of terrorists by saying this ! – Editor). India knows where we stand.”

Editorial Viewpoint

Instead of doing repeated surgical strikes against Pakistan, India must take a full and final action against it !
