Three cow-smugglers with 50 kg of beef arrested at Deoband, UP

Saharanpur (UP) – The Police raided Faizan’s house in Sheikh-ul-Hind Colony of Deoband. During this time Faizan son of Gulzar, Mohammad Chotan son of Irfan alias Fana, and Sufiyan son of Saeed were arrested, whereas the other 3 culprits including a woman ran away. During the raid, Police seized 50 kg of beef, knives, axes and several meat-cutting tools in the house.

From the arrested ones, Chotan has already been charged for 7 other crimes in Deoband Police station, out of which 5 are related to the cow slaughter. The main accused Faizan has also been charged for 7 other crimes in Deoband Police station. 4 of these cases are registered for cow slaughtering and rest under the Gangster Act. (If these 2 culprits have already been charged for cow slaughter previously, till now, why isn’t strict action taken against them ? If they are again and again doing the same crime after getting released on bail, will the cow slaughter ever come to an end ? Making amendments in such Acts is the only solution for this ! – Editor)

Editorial viewpoint

Such crimes are taking place in UP even after the Prevention of Cow Slaughter Act. Hence, the Government should take efforts to increase the provisions in the Act as well as to carry out such cases in Fast Track Court.
