Swami Avimukteshwaranand Saraswati was prohibited by the Police from visiting Gyanvapi for worship

  • Under heavy Police protection, He was detained in Srividya Muth
  • Due to the Administration’s opposition, Swami Avimukteshwaranand Saraswati is on a hunger strike

Varanasi (UP) – Police have detained Swami Avimukteshwaranand Saraswati, special representative of Shankaracharya Jagadguru Swami Swaroopanand Saraswati (Chairperson of Dwarka and Jyotish Peeth). The action was taken against His planned visit to perform puja and Jal Abhishek at the vajukhana (place to wash hands and feet before offering namaz) at Gyanvapi Mosque. Police have cordoned off Srividya Muth. Swami Avimukteshwaranand Saraswati is prohibited from going out. Thus, He has begun a hunger strike and abstained from food. He said He will not take food and water unless He worships Adi Vishweshwar Shivalinga as revealed in Gyanvapi.

Police said that a case regarding Gyanvapi is pending in the Court, therefore, Swami Avimukteshwaranand Saraswati is not allowed to perform puja in the Gyanvapi area. However, if He goes to Gyanvapi, strict legal action will be taken against Him. The Police force from six different Police stations has set up tight security around Srividya Muth. The road leading to the Muth has been barricaded.

The right of 100 crore Sanatan Dharma believers to worship should not be denied

Swami Avimukteshwaranand Saraswati questioned the Administration upon a denial to worship that if so then Police should take puja material from us and worship our Deity according to the law. We human beings need everyday bathing, food and water. Then how can we leave our God without proper daily rituals ? The Shivalinga found in Gyanvapi is the old Jyotirlinga of our Adi Vishweshwara. The Deity is worshipped because it is awakened. God cannot be kept hungry or thirsty. Their bathing, shrungar, pooja, prasad etc. should be done regularly. Our small demand is that we should be allowed to worship our Deity once a day. The Police are blocking our way. The Police will do their job and we will do our job. The right to worship is a fundamental right of every Sanatan Dharma believer. I am repeatedly requesting the Administration to allow us to worship in the Gyanvapi. I will not take my colleagues there, let me alone worship the God on behalf of 100 crore Sanatan Dharma believers. The right to worship God should not be denied.

Why does Uttar Pradesh Police keep a heavy Police force to prohibit Swami Avimukteshwaranand Saraswati who is a Hindu Saint, but did not act to set up such security to prevent violence from erupting after namaz at Kanpur ? Hindus need answers
