Margao (Goa) – “The Additional District Collector of Goa had issued orders based on a judgement of the Goa Bench of Bombay High Court against the use of loudspeakers on mosques. Even then, all mosques in Goa have been using loudspeakers for ‘azaan’ in an unauthorised manner. The Government should take strict action against the unauthorised loudspeakers fitted over mosques and against those who have attacked Shriram Navami processions all over the country”, demanded Hindu Janajagruti Samiti (HJS) through two separate memorandums to the District Collector of South Goa.

‘Azaan’ hooted from loudspeakers fitted on mosques is creating noise pollution and loudspeakers on mosques in an unauthorised manner cannot be considered a religious tradition. If similar incidents take place in the State by the followers of other religions, it can lead to a crisis in the State. This is what one memorandum says. The memorandum says that Shriram Navami processions taken out all over India (including Goa) were celebrated with a lot of enthusiasm on 10th April 2022, but these processions were attacked and stones were pelted at them in many States (including Vasco, Goa). The violent attacks with swords and stone-pelting, setting houses and vehicles on fire, and destruction of public property are a matter of grave concern. These attacks on the day of Shriram Navami were a pre-planned conspiracy since similar incidents took place at so many places at the same time. Who is behind such attacks ? Why are religious festivals targeted ? An in-depth inquiry needs to be conducted at the national level into all such incidents. A copy of the memorandum demanding strict action against the attackers on the Shriram Navami processions has been forwarded even to the Central Home Minister, while a copy of the memorandum demanding action against unauthorised loudspeakers on mosques has been sent to Goa Chief Minister Pramod Sawant and Goa State Pollution Control Board.

Editorial Comments

  • It is shameful that Court orders are ignored in our country by the religious fanatics and the Administration does not take action.
  • This situation will change only after the ‘Hindu Rashtra’ is established.
