A law banning cow slaughter passed in the Union Territories Dadra-Nagar Haveli and Daman-Diu

Editorial comment

Many States in the country have passed such a law but it is not being implemented strictly and honestly, hence, such crimes have not stopped. The rulers should probe into this matter seriously.

Daman – In the Union Territories Dadra Nagar Haveli, Daman – Diu law banning cow slaughter has been passed. Those found slaughtering cow can be sentenced to 10 years jail extending to life imprisonment, and fined Rs. 1 to 5 lakhs. This law includes cow, heifer, bull, etc.

Beef is completely banned here, the transport of cattle for slaughtering is also illegal. These will be non-bailable offences. It would not be applicable in the case of the slaughter of any animal above the age of 15, other than cow, calf, heifer, bull, and ox.
