Chandigarh (Punjab) – Punjab Chief Minister Charanjit Singh Channi has announced that a new education institute in the name of Jesus Christ will be established in the State where Bible and Christianity will be taught. He also made an announcement of a social auditorium for every District. A Land will be allocated for the Christian cemetery if a District does not have a cemetery. Rs. one crore will be granted to the Christian Welfare Board, and electricity will be provided at concessional rates for the Christians. All these decisions were taken by Chief Minister Channi in the meeting with Prof Emanual Nahar, President, State Minorities Commission.

While speaking about the announcement made by Chief Minister Chennai, Emanual Nahar said, “This is the first time after Independence that a Chief Minister of Punjab has taken such decisions. Starting an education institute in the name of Jesus Christ was our old demand, which is accepted now. The Chief Minister has solved all our problems.
