Dnyanwapi Koop and Nandi were included in Kashi-Vishwanath Corridor
In 1669 Shri Kashi-Vishwanath temple was demolished by Aurangazeb’s order and in its place, the Dnyanwapi mosque had been built. They were unsuccessful in destroying the Idol of Nandi. At that time, the Shivlinga was hidden in the Dnyanwapi Koop (well) by Mahants of the temple. Some years later Ahilyabai Holkar built a new temple next to this mosque. At that time there was no Nandi and the dnyanwapi Koop in the temple premises, but now they are being included in Kashi-Vishwanath Corridor.
Special chain of 27 temples for Kashi-Vishwanath Corridor
A special chain of 27 temples has been prepared in Kashi-Vishwanath Corridor. Earlier these temples were built along with the Kashi-Vishwanath temple. In the 2nd phase, 97 Idols are going to be established, whereas 145 Shivlingas are to be established in the third phase.
From 5 thousand ft to 5 lakh ft expansion in the premises
Earlier the premises of the Kashi-Vishwanath temple were 5,000 ft. Now after having acquired neighbouring land the premises have been expanded to 5,27,300 feet for restoration. For this 390 crore have been given as compensation. There will be 4 entrances. Each entrance will be 20 ft high. A road from the temple to the Ganga ghat of 200 metres long and 40 feet wide has been made. 108 temples, 44 Dharmashalas, and water tanks are being restored along with the temple around Kashi.
