Coonoor (TN) – Out of 14 persons, 13 have died in the Army helicopter mishap here. The lone survivor of this mishap, Group Captain Varun Singh, has suffered 45% burn injuries and is being treated in the Wellington military hospital. Presently, he is on a ventilator.

He is likely to be shifted to the Air Force hospital in Bengaluru. Defence Minister Rajnath Singh told the Parliament that Singh was on life support and all efforts were being made to save him. Earlier Group Captain Varun Singh had survived a life-threatening emergency while flying an aircraft and, he was awarded the Shaurya Chakra for regaining control over the aircraft and bringing it down safely.
