Araria (Bihar) – The District Court here convicted the accused Dilip Yadav on the same day after hearing witnesses and arguments in the case of rape of a minor girl filed under the POCSO Act and sentenced the accused to life imprisonment. He was also fined Rs 50,000. The Court ordered the Government to pay a compensation of Rs 7 lakh to the victim.

Judge Shashi Kant Rai of the Special Court for the POCSO Act passed this order. On 23rd July, a case of rape of a minor girl was registered at Narpatganj Police Station in Araria. The accused was arrested in the case and a charge sheet was filed in the Court.
Earlier too, special Judge Shashikant Rai had sentenced an accused to death for gang rape and murder of a 10-year-old girl. In another case, a man accused of raping an 8-year-old girl was sentenced to life in prison.
