Basically, there is no need for any organisation to raise such a demand; the Government itself should deal with it voluntarily.
Mumbai – Freedom House, the US organisation that assesses ‘Freedom’ in the various countries around the world, has displayed a map of India on its website, freedomhouse.org. The map does not show the territories of Kashmir, Aksai Chin, Islands of Andaman-Nicobar and Lakshadweep. Kashmir is inseparable part of India. Still, The Freedom House has termed Kashmir as Pakistani Kashmir. The Aksai Chin area has also been shown to be China’s territory, This is a distortion the India’s map and an insult to India. Hindu Janajagruti Samiti publicly protests against this organisation. The Government of India should write to this organisation and inform them to remove the wrong map of India and publish the correct map. Otherwise, the Government of India should take the appropriate action against this organisation, demanded Hindu Janajagruti Samiti.
- The Samiti has written to the Union Minister for Home Affairs, Union Information and Broadcasting Minister and the Surveyor General of India seeking action in this regard. The map of India published by the Government of India should be used everywhere. Distortion of the map of India is a punishable offence under Section 2 (1) of the Indian Penal Code (Amendment) 1961.
Freedom House’s distortion of the map of India has been brought India into disrepute and hurt the feelings of all patriotic Indians. Therefore, we demand that the Government of India should write to Freedom House to delete this map immediately and publish the appropriate map. This organisation should be asked to tender a public apology to the Government of India. Appropriate action should be taken against them in case of their failure to do so.
- Hindu Janajagruti Samiti (HJS) has also informed that it will launch an ‘online campaign’ to protest against ‘Freedom House’ to stop the desecration of the national flag.
