China is expected to understand that technological advancement, bullying neighbouring countries, etc. will not help feed its people.
New Delhi – China is purchasing food grains from India after its supplies have shrunk and a discount given by India. It has started rice imports from India for the first time in three decades. India is the largest rice exporting country in the world, while China is the largest rice importer. China approximately imports 40 lakh tonnes of rice per annum while it avoided importing rice from India citing quality reasons. The decision to import rice comes amidst border tensions with India. Industrial authorities told that the Indian traders have reached an agreement with China to sell one lakh ton of rice at the rate of Rs. 3000 per ton during the period between December 2020 to February 2021.
For the first time in 30 years, China has been forced to buy rice from India.
