AIMIM MP Asaduddin Owaisi's baseless remark
(An “encounter” refers to a person being killed in a police shootout.)

Bijnor (Uttar Pradesh) – Criticising the Shri Ram Janmabhoomi Teerth Kshetra Trust over the donation theft case, AIMIM (All India Majlis-e-Ittehadul Muslimeen) president and MP Asaduddin Owaisi alleged that a different standard was being applied because those involved were not Muslims.
Speaking to reporters, Owaisi said, “The Shri Ram Janmabhoomi Teerth Kshetra Trust has erred in handling the donation theft case. Had there been a Muslim in the Trust and this incident come to light, he would have been killed in an ‘encounter’, his house would have been demolished with a bulldozer, and the matter would have been closed. But now Champat Rai is enjoying himself; all the Champaks are enjoying themselves. You tell me, what is going on ? No one’s house is being demolished. Those who have been arrested have not even been kept in police custody.”
