
Haveri (Karnataka) – In Naregal village of Hangal taluka, religious fanatics breaks hand of a farmer over a trivial issue while the villagers were celebrating the festival of Kar Purnima (Vat Purnima).
1. A bull race had been organised during the Kar Purnima celebrations, in which young men and farmers participated enthusiastically. While the bulls were being raced, the route passed by a mosque. It is reported that some people burst firecrackers near the mosque.
2. Following this, a group of religious fanatics started quarrelling with Hindu farmers and youths. They then attacked the Hindus with sharp weapons. Shivraj Kurubar, Nagappa Kurubar, Mallappa Rayappa, Lingaraj Mahantesh, Jayappa Sangappa, Lohit Revanappa and others sustained serious injuries in the attack. During this murderous assault, the religious fanatics chopped off the hand of a Hindu farmer.
3. The incident has created an atmosphere of tension in the area. Senior Police officers visited the spot as soon as they received information about the incident. Heavy Police security has been deployed in the area.
4. The Police have registered a case and initiated further investigation.
