Demolition halted after protests by the Sikh community

Farukhabad (Pakistan) – Local land mafias, in collusion with the administration, attempted to demolish the 125-year-old historic Gurdwara Sri Singh Sabha in Farukhabad, Punjab province, Pakistan. The incident took place on the night of June 24th. As soon as news of the incident spread, a large number of members of the local Sikh community gathered at the site and strongly protested, forcing the demolition work to stop. Bowing to the growing anger and pressure from the Sikh community, the local administration has, for the time being, sealed the historic site and prohibited any construction or further demolition there.

Conspiracy planned for the past four years !
According to local Sikh activists, a conspiracy to erase this historic heritage site has been underway for the past four years. Until four years ago, the ancient structures of the Gurdwara Sahib remained completely intact, and videos of the site had also been circulated on social media. Subsequently, land mafias demolished the main dome of the Gurdwara Sahib in an attempt to take control of the property.
Action demanded against those involved in the conspiracy
The Sikh community alleges that a written complaint had been submitted to the police and the administration even at that time. However, neither the Evacuee Trust Property Board nor the Pakistan Sikh Gurdwara Management Committee took any concrete steps to protect this invaluable heritage site, the consequences of which are now evident.
The Sikh community has demanded the immediate arrest of the land mafias and corrupt administrative officials involved in the conspiracy and has called for stringent legal action against them.
At present, the Waqf Board has stated that it has begun the process of initiating legal action in the matter. However, an atmosphere of distrust continues to prevail within the Sikh community.
