‘Now defeat is a common occurrence for Congress’ – Congress leader Kapil Sibal criticises party leadership

Even the leaders of Congress party are now convinced that the party now needs to be scrapped,  Therefore, the Congress should accept the idea of dissolving the Congress which was stated by Mohandas Gandhi 7 decades ago and act on his suggestions.

New Delhi – Defeat in elections has become a common occurrence for the Congress. Even after the defeat in the Bihar elections and by-elections in other states, no thought has been given by the leadership of the Congress. It may think that everything is fine and this is a normal phenomenon, said Congress leader and former Union Minister Kapil Sibal. Earlier, Sibal and some other leaders had written letters seeking a change in party leadership. After contesting 70 seats in Bihar elections, Congress has to settle for only 19 seats. Due to the poor performance of the Congress in the Mahagathbandhan (grand alliance) between the RJD and the Congress, the grand alliance had to stay away from the majority in the Assembly. Sibal has made this criticism based in this regard.

In an interview to an English daily, Kapil Sibal, while answering a question, said, “I am just giving my personal opinion. I haven’t heard the leadership say anything about it (clarifying sides). People’s voices about leadership reach me, that’s all I know”.
