Kamala Harris’ niece deletes the tweet denigrating Shri Durgadevi

Government of India should condemn the act of using Hindu Deities for election propaganda. If Hindu Deities, Dharma, etc. are insulted anywhere in the world, Hindus expect the Indian Government to oppose it every time.

Why did leaders of the Democratic Party not dare to use their own religious images in Christianity for canvassing in the election ?

New York (USA) – Hindu organisations in USA had sought an apology from Senator Kamala Harris’ niece for tweeting an ‘offensive’ image which depicted the Democratic Vice Presidential candidate nominee as Goddess Durga. The tweet was deleted by Meena Harris, Kamala’s niece after netizens asked her if she would do the same to other religions. Republican Presidential nominee Donald Trump and Democratic nominee Joe Biden will run in November’s US Presidential election. Kamala Harris is the daughter of a woman of Indian descent.

In India, campaigning on the basis of religion is prohibited. The canvassing team of Kamala Harris spread a denigrating picture of Shri Durgadevi on social media. Kamala Harris was depicted as Goddess Durga killing US President Donald Trump, who was depicted as the demon Mahshasur. The image also showed Joe Biden as a lion, a vehicle of the Goddess.

The Hindus and their organisations in USA had protested against the denigration especially during Navaratri.

Mr. Suhag A Shukla of the Hindu American Foundation, Mr. Rishi Bhutada of Hindu American Political Action Committee, Mr. Ajay Shah, Convener of American Hindus Against Defamation, author Ms. Shefali Vaidya are some Hindu leaders who protested on Twitter.
