New Delhi – Coronavirus-linked lockdown could cut the jobs of 13 crore 50 lakh people in the country, push 12 crore people below the poverty line and make 4 crore extremely poor, according to a report by Arthur D Little, an international management consulting firm. The report also said that per capita income will be lower and gross national income will also fall sharply.
The report further states that India’s growing coronavirus scale will reduce its gross national product by 10.8 % in 2020-21. In the 2021-22, the GDP growth rate will be 0.8 %. India’s unemployment rate is expected to rise by 7.6% and likely to go up to 35%.
