Hassan (Karnataka) – A man who had come to videograph the counting of donations from the donation box of the historic Chennakeshava Swami Temple in Belur was arrested for allegedly stealing ₹1 lakh 98 thousand from it.
The accused, Neelkanth, owner of a Karnataka One service centre, had come to videograph the donation-counting process. However, officials of the Charitable Endowments Department became suspicious after observing his movements. On reviewing the CCTV footage, they discovered that he had allegedly stolen the money from the donation box. After Tahsildar Shridhar Kankanwadi informed the Belur Police, Neelkanth was arrested.
