Rajasthan ATS Raid: 28 suspects with links to Pakistani terrorist arrested

Pakistani terrorist Shehzad Bhatti

Jaipur (Rajasthan) – Rajasthan’s Anti-Terrorism Squad conducted raids in more than 20 cities across the State and arrested 28 suspects. They are linked to Pakistani terrorist Shehzad Bhatti. Bhatti befriends them through social media by luring them with money and fame, and later asks them to send photographs of sensitive locations. Most of the youths falling into Bhatti’s trap are from districts along the India-Pakistan border.

The social media accounts and other online activities of those arrested are being investigated. According to the investigating agencies, Bhatti has also activated a network of ‘sleeper cells’ (local groups of fanatical Muslims who secretly assist terrorists) in the States of Haryana, Punjab, Delhi and Uttar Pradesh, apart from Rajasthan. They receive funds through hawala (a system commonly used in Arab and South Asian countries for transferring money).

Editorial Perspective
