SIT established in Mumbai to investigate fake birth certificates !

Special Investigation Team formed to trace bangladeshi infiltrators !

Mumbai – In the past few years, a large number of Bangladeshi infiltrators have been found in Mumbai. A significant number of infiltrators have obtained birth certificates on the basis of forged documents. Despite government directives to trace such individuals, the Revenue Department has taken very little action in this regard. Considering the large number of Bangladeshi infiltrators in Mumbai, a ‘Special Investigation Team’ (SIT) has been formed to identify those who obtained birth certificates using fake documents.

Mumbai Police Commissioner issued a circular regarding this on May 5th! The SIT will function under the chairmanship of the Joint Commissioner of Police (Crime). Additional Commissioners of Police (Crime), Additional Commissioners of the Special Branch, Deputy Commissioners of the Crime Investigation Branch, and Assistant Commissioners of Police have been included as members of the team.

1. Over the past few years, the Home Department noticed that birth certificates were being issued on the basis of Aadhaar cards. Aadhaar cards were found with Bangladeshi infiltrators arrested in Mumbai. Investigation agencies discovered that these Aadhaar cards had been created in Bengal using forged documents.

2. Based on these documents, Aadhaar cards were obtained in Maharashtra. Using those Aadhaar cards, infiltrators acquired birth certificates. Therefore, the government had ordered an investigation into all birth certificates issued during the past year and directed that birth certificates issued solely on the basis of Aadhaar cards be collected back. However, serious action was not taken on this issue across the State. Hence, this Special Investigation Team has now been established in Mumbai.

Highest number of infiltrators found in the Mumbai region !

The Maharashtra Anti-Terrorism Squad (ATS) recently submitted a list of more than 7,500 Bangladeshi infiltrators to the State Government. Earlier as well, the ATS had submitted a list of 1,237 Bangladeshi infiltrators. More than 75 percent of them were found to be residing in Mumbai and nearby areas. The SIT has now been established to trace those infiltrators who are still absconding.
