India’s passport ranking improves from 85 to 75 !

Indians can now travel visa-free to 56 countries !

London (Britain) – According to the latest 2026 Henley Passport Index report, the passport rankings of both India and Pakistan have improved; however, India has made a significant leap this year, while Pakistan has seen only a marginal improvement. India is now ranked 75th on the list, while Pakistan stands at 98th. Last year, India was ranked 85th and Pakistan 103rd. Indian citizens can now travel visa-free to 56 countries, whereas Pakistani citizens can travel visa-free to 31 countries.

In terms of global status, India has been placed in the middle category, while Pakistan is placed in the lower category alongside countries such as Yemen, Iraq, and Afghanistan. The improvement in India’s ranking is attributed to new bilateral agreements signed with various countries.

Passport rankings of affluent countries decline !

The United States, which once held the top position in this index, has dropped to 10th place in 2026. This decline is attributed to stricter visa policies and the lack of favourable trade agreements with other nations. Britain has also slipped from 3rd to 6th place. Canada and Australia, which were previously among the top five, are now ranked 7th and 8th respectively. Many affluent countries have tightened visa regulations citing security concerns and the need to control immigration, which has impacted their passport rankings.
