Even a minor mistake by the United States will be met with a strong and decisive response

Iran issues stern warning to Donald Trump

Tehran (Iran) – Iran has said that it is open to talks but warned that any small slip-up by the United States will invite a powerful retaliation. This warning was issued by Iran’s Parliament Speaker Mohammad Bagher Ghalibaf, who also stated that Iran does not trust its adversaries, as an attack could occur even during negotiations.

In a televised address, Ghalibaf said

1. Iran is prepared for all situations. It has already demonstrated its strength on the battlefield and is ready to negotiate without fear.

2. Although the US has more money, weapons, and experience, Iran has managed favourable result through its strategy. He described the conflict as not just military but strategic. The US has failed in its strategy. He also claimed that despite its ‘America First’ policy, many US decisions appear to be influenced by wrong information from Israel.

3. Iran has successfully countered adversary’s attempts to weaken its economy and to take control of its oil resources.

4. If Iranian ships are stopped from passing through the Strait of Hormuz, Iran will not allow ships from other countries to pass either. He called the US blockade of Iranian ports irresponsible and said it is increasing regional tensions.

5. Any mine-clearing or similar activity in the Strait of Hormuz will be seen as  violation of the ceasefire and will be retaliated.

No ship will pass without Iran’s approval

Iran’s Supreme National Security Council said that until the conflict ends and peace is restored, Iran will control ship movement through the Strait of Hormuz. No vessel will be allowed to pass without permission. US is under pressure because of Hormuz blockade.

No date set for next talks

Iran’s Deputy Foreign Minister Saeed Khatibzadeh said, no date has been fixed for the next round of talks. He added that Iran will not accept unrealistic demands from the United States.

Tougher stand in Hormuz

Taking a firm stand, Iran recently sent back a Chinese ship from the Strait of Hormuz. Earlier, it had also fired at an Indian vessel in the area. While these ships were previously allowed to pass, these actions indicate a shift toward a harder line from Iran.
