Activists shut down food stall displaying Bangladeshi flag during ‘World Cultural Festival’

BJP Yuva Morcha protests at Pune College

Pune – The World Cultural Festival was  organised at a reputed college in Kothrud area Pune. The event had been organised to showcase the art and culture of international students studying at the college. As part of the programme, students from Sudan performed a traditional folk dance holding swords. Bangladeshi students had also set up a food stall featuring dishes from their country. The Bangladeshi flag was reportedly displayed at this stall.

Some local students had earlier submitted a written complaint to the college administration objecting to the display of the Bangladeshi flag. However, the stall continued to operate despite the objection. (Would it be the same case if Hindus continued to display Indian flag despite objection in Bangladesh? Would it have been allowed? – Editor)

After learning about the matter, BJP Yuva Morcha workers reached the college premises, closed the stall, and staged a protest against the administration. The organisation has also filed a complaint with the police regarding the incident.

Dushyant Mohol, City President of the BJP Yuva Morcha, stated that educational institutions play a crucial role in upholding national values. He said that while cultural programmes are important, administrators must consider students’ sentiments and the wider social impact of such decisions.

Editorial Perspectives

  • While Bangladesh is engaged in anti-India activities all the time, how can these students secure admissions in Indian colleges? India suffers serious problems due to such anti-social mindset.
  • Bangladesh must be protested not only at political level but at all the levels to teach the country lesson of a lifetime.
