Guha is an anti-Hindu communist historian

New Delhi – Noted communist historian and author Ramachandra Guha, while expressing concern over the changing political landscape of India, has compared Indian democracy with Pakistan’s theocracy. In an interview with a private news channel, he said that India is currently at a point where it is moving towards becoming a ‘Hindu Pakistan’.
Points presented by Guha in the interview:
1. Just as Pakistan was created based on a particular religion (Islam) and minorities were given a secondary position there, the same trend is currently seen in India.
2. The Hindutva agenda being implemented by the ruling party contradicts India’s original multiculturalism and secularism.
3. India is slowly moving to become like Pakistan due to attacks on the autonomy of democratic institutions, the judiciary and the media.
What is ‘Hindu Pakistan’?
Guha expressed his fear that when politics became completely centred around a single religion, when minorities were seen as enemies, when religious fanaticism was given importance over scientific perspective, all these things were the root causes of Pakistan’s creation and decline, and now in India too, politics is being conducted with Hindutva at the centre, and a similar picture is emerging.
Editorial PerspectiveNot a single Muslim in the country says that India is on the way to becoming a Hindu Pakistan; however, anti-Hindus like Guha are trying to portray Hindus as terrorists, fundamentalists, and religious fanatics by making such statements. A case should be registered against such people, and they should be put in jail. |
