Why should America pay the price for the use of AI by Indians ? : Peter Navarro

  • Venomous remarks by a White House trade adviser

  • ‘ChatGPT is developed in the US, but is used excessively abroad,’ he claims

Peter Navarro

Washington DC (USA) – Why should American citizens pay for artificial intelligence (AI) services that are used in India, stated White House trade adviser Peter Navarro in an interview.

Navarro further stated that AI platforms like ChatGPT are operated from US soil and use American electricity. However, these AI platforms are used in large numbers by citizens of India and other countries. (Could there be a more ridiculous statement than this? Since India is standing tall and defying all kinds of pressure from the United States, such remarks are clearly born out of American frustration! – Editor)

The United States’ imposition of a 50 percent import tariff on India and the lack of agreement so far in bilateral trade negotiations have created significant tension between the two countries. It is against this backdrop that Navarro made this comment.

Editorial Perspective

Why should the Government of India not say this: “It is solely because of the brilliance of Indian engineers that leading American institutions are today developing cutting-edge technologies. Therefore, India should now demand a heavy price from the United States.”
