India imposes 30% tariff on Import of Pulses from USA

Ask India to cancel the tariff – Two US senators write to President Trump

Washington DC (USA) –  The US President Donald Trump has imposed 50% tariff on the imports from India so that India reduces its oil trade with Russia.

Now, however, there are discussions across the world about India levying a tariff of 30% on the import of pulses with effect from 30.10.2025. Two senators of USA have demanded cancellation of this tariff with Mr Trump.

1. Senators Kevin Cramer of North Dakota and Steve Daines of Montana have written a letter to Trump demanding that the USA should ask India to withdraw the import tariff.

2. They have further stated in the letter that the import tariff imposed by India is causing huge loss to the US pulse crop growers. Different pulses like gram, red lentils and yellow peas are exported on a large scale to India as India is the world’s largest consumer of these crops.
