New Trade Agreement More beneficial to India – Manufactured narrative by New Zealand Foreign Minister

Wellington (New Zealand) – New Zealand’s foreign minister Winston Peters has strongly opposed the newly announced India-New Zealand Free Trade Agreement signed on 22.12.2025, just a day after it was concluded.

He has posted on his ‘X’ account that ‘I don’t consider the Free Trade Agreement between India-New Zealand as either free or fair. Unfortunately, it is a bad deal for New Zealand. India will get many benefits under this agreement; but in return, New Zealand will not get much. This agreement is not good for New Zealand farmers. Therefore, it is just not possible that rural communities will support this agreement.’

After the rounds of discussions held between the two countries from March, the Prime Ministers of both the countries announced the Free Trade Agreement on 22 December. This agreement will create many opportunities in different arenas like commerce, investment, innovations, etc. New Zealand will invest more than 20 billion dollars in India under various sectors.

That such a statement is made only out of one’s hatred for India is evident.
