Guardian Minister Pratap Sarnaik orders Dharashiv District Collector after receiving memorandum from Hindu Janajagruti Samiti

Conduct an inquiry into the damage caused to the ancient Brahmadev idol at the Tuljapur temple and submit the report immediately !

Nagpur, 11 December – A case should be registered against the responsible officers for the damage caused to the ancient idol of Lord Brahma in Shrikshetra Tulajapur Mandir and there should be a designates space should be reserved for carrying out religious rituals as per the traditions and legacy, without tampering with the Shri Tulajapur Teerthkshetra Development Plan.

A memorandum with these demands was submitted by Hindu Janajagruti Samiti (HJS) to Mr. Pratap Sarnaik, the guardian minister of Dharashiv District on 10.12.2025 at Vidhan Bhavan. Mr. Sarnaik immediately called up the Dharashiv District Collector and instructed him to submit a report on the matter at the earliest. Mr. Sunil Ghanwat, national convener of ‘Maharashtra Mandir Mahasangh’, and HJS activists Mr. Atul Arvenla and Mr. Abhijit Polke were present on the occasion.

The memorandum states that idols of several ‘Updevatas’ (Deities other than the main deity) were shifted from the temple premises even before the commencement of the work related to the development of Shri Tulajapur shrine. The ancient idol of Shri Brahmadev has sustained damages due to negligence in the initial stages of the project hurting religious sentiments of Hindus. Despite complaints by many local organizations and citizens, why has no action has been taken against the guilty officers in the last two and a half months? An Inquiry has to be conducted in the matter and criminal cases have to be registered.

Additionally, it is essential to seek the opinions of scholars of ‘Dharmashastras’, ‘Dharmacharyas’, and Shankaracharya Peethas to have a religious perspective on the plan. Maharashtra Mandir Mahasangh has also demanded that the main entrance be retained in its original form and the layout of the temple not be changed by making a new entrance on the rear side.
