Outcome of persistent follow-up by Vishwa Hindu Parishad and Bajrang Dal

Navi Mumbai, 23 November – Turbhe Police have taken action against loudspeakers installed on an illegal madarasa-mosque structure at Turbhe Naka, following sustained follow-up by Vishwa Hindu Parishad and Bajrang Dal workers. After a complaint lodged by Bajrang Dal district convener Tejas Patil, the Police carried out a legal operation to remove the loudspeakers atop the ‘Dar-ul-Salam’ mosque.
According to local residents, the illegal structure had been causing severe mental distress in the neighbourhood. The loudspeakers were being used at volumes far exceeding permissible limits, five times a day, in a densely populated area with many senior citizens and several hospitals in the vicinity. Patients, too, were reportedly suffering due to the continuous noise pollution.
Workers from Vishwa Hindu Parishad and its affiliate Bajrang Dal had repeatedly filed complaints at Turbhe Police Station over the past several months. The activists continued consistent follow-up until Police acted. An official communication confirming the action has also been issued by the Police. Residents and patients have expressed relief that noise levels in the area are now expected to decrease.
Editorial PerspectiveDespite the Bombay High Court ordering action against unauthorised prayer-site loudspeakers, the Police administration remains unwilling to act on its own. Devout Hindu organisations being forced to pursue the matter is a disgrace for the Police and the administration ! |
