India ranks fourth among the world’s most powerful militaries, Pakistan placed 12th !

The United States, Russia and China lead the table ahead of India !

Washington (United States) – Amid rising tensions among major global powers, a fresh ranking of the world’s strongest militaries has been released. The organisation ‘Global Firepower’ has evaluated the military strength of 145 countries and published its updated list. The United States has secured the top position as the world’s most powerful military. Its ‘Power Index Score’ stands at 0.0744 — and the closer this number is to zero, the stronger the military is considered to be.

The United States also tops global defence spending, exceeding 873 billion US dollars (over ₹7 lakh 740 crore) in 2024. India has been ranked fourth in overall military strength, while Pakistan has been placed at 12^th.

When measured by population parameters, India ranks first; and in terms of total population, available workforce, and the combined strength of active and paramilitary personnel, India stands second.
