Attacks on Hindu culture we must never tolerate. Opposing them is our duty. For this, we must be intellectually capable. Only then we shall be able to counter these attacks intellectually and emotionally. Our Nation and Hindu culture have faced invasions for thousands of years; now, these have increased manifold. Through social media, intellectual and ideological attacks are going on continuously to confuse us and draw us away from Hindu culture and traditions. If we fall for this trap, we will be responsible for destroying Hindu culture and traditions. The very purpose of this Article is to prevent this from happening.

1. Attempt to intellectually mislead and draw people away from Hindu culture
People are asked if offering flowers to Deities, donating money to temples or offering gold to Deities is an act of charity. Charity means donating to institutions such as homes for the differently-abled, orphanages, and old-age homes. Such ideas easily influence our minds.
When we go to temples, we offer clothes or money as donations and flowers and garlands to the Deity. Temples are cultural centres for Hindus. They are also regarded as places of spiritual enlightenment & Dharma; Harikathas, kirtans, discourses, homas and Yajnas are conducted in temples.
Hindu culture has specified two aspects of human life – material and spiritual. There is an unspoken rule in our tradition that to overcome attachment to worldly life, one should use a part of one’s hard-earned income for charity. When we follow this rule, knowingly or unknow-ingly, we protect and nurture Hindu Dharma, culture, tradition, and temples are the very centres that preserve these. Once that is weakened, religion, culture, and traditions naturally begin to decay.
Temples of Hindus are cultural strongholds that protect it. Attempts are repeatedly made to mislead people by saying – ‘Do not perform Abhishek of Deities with milk, do not offer flowers or coconuts to them’, and thus, destroy these very strongholds. This is an effort to take away Hindus from their culture by intellectually misleading them. If we fall prey to such a conspiracy, we will only harm ourselves.
2. Hindu society leads in donating to social institutions
Even today, it is the Hindu society that donates generously to orphanages, centres for the differently-abled, and old-age homes. If such donations were not made, these institutions would cease to exist. When donations are given to temples or pilgrimage centres, it is wrongly assumed that Hindus do not donate to other social organisations. This is far from the truth. Many temples also provide free food. Some temples even provide financial assistance to the sick. We must realise that ignoring these facts is an attack on our minds and intellect.
3. Why is this advice not given to Muslims and Christians, who cause harm to the Nation ?
This advice is given only to Hindus, not to Muslims and Christians. Most dangerous are mosques, madrasas, and Christian churches; yet, not a single word is spoken against them.
This fact too must be noted. The activities in mosques, madarasas, and churches taint humanity. Mosques and madarasas are the main centres where Jihadis are created and provided weapons. We have seen this many times. Modern weapons, illegally stored in mosques and used only for attacking Hindus, have been found on many occasions. No such acts that disgrace humanity ever take place in Hindu temples. This is a fact.
Churches are openly used for religious conversions. Continuous financial assistance is provided for this by the Christian community. It has also been found that drug smuggling takes place through churches, especially in North-East India. Yet, not a single word is ever written against such activities that harm humanity. This must be told to those who object to donations made to temples and pilgrimage centres. The money offered to temples is never used against humanity. This point must be understood well.
4. The distorted view about Hindu Dharma
Muslims adorn dargahs with chadars made of flowers, and Christians offer bouquets in churches. When they do this, it is a part of their religion; but when Hindus offer flowers and garlands to their Deities, it is labelled as a business. This clearly shows how distorted the outlook towards Hindu Dharma is compared with other religions.
5. Hindus support bhandaras, orphanages and self-help organisations
Most temples regularly distribute food, which is served either free or for a nominal amount. During Ganapati and Navaratri festivals, and at pilgrimage centres, bhandaras are a common practice. Many temples also take the initiative to provide financial help to patients. A survey will reveal a long list of such temples. Many charitable institutions like orphanages, are run solely on donations from householders. Otherwise, this will not happen. People from cities also donate to organisations working in tribal areas. Many voluntary organisations are prosperous because of the generous donations they receive.
6. Conspiracy of the ‘Deep State’ to destroy Hindu Dharma, culture and India
For those unaware, an important point must be shared. The ‘Deep State’ has become highly active today. It refers to the covert network of bureaucrats and private organisations that influence Government policies without accountability. The USA is its main centre. Since India’s Independence, efforts of this group to destroy Hindu Dharma, culture and India have been going on.
A USA Army Major named James Watson recently attempted similar anti-Hindu activities in a small village called Chindhi Pada in Bhiwandi, Maharashtra, trying to convert local Hindus to Christianity. He entered India on a business visa and even instigated converted Hindus against the Government and armed them. Locals lodged a complaint, and the Police arrested him.
This same ‘Deep State’ has been responsible for regime changes in countries such as Bangladesh, Myanmar, Nepal and Sri Lanka. Their plan is to create unrest and internal rebellion in the country by attacking religion and supporting uprisings against the present Governments. Hindus must remain alert and not get ensnared in this deceitful plan. To avoid being intellectually misled, constant vigilance is essential.
7. There is a need for Hindus to stay vigilant against malicious designs
To destroy Hindu Dharma and culture, objections are raised against Hindu places of faith, Deities, Muths, and temples, and people are misled through fake narratives. It is unfortunate that those spreading such misinformation are funded, and yet no one raises their voice against it. The most tragic part is that Hindus who fall for such malicious designs end up supporting these very people and opposing their fellow Hindus. This is a small attempt to alert and educate them.
Our Dharma regards the stage of a householder (Gruhasthashram) as the foundation of national life, as it provides financial support to social and educational institutions. Therefore, charity is considered a virtuous act. This charity is not confined to temples alone; we also perform it in other spheres. Why then is this ignored ? If people had not donated to social or public institutions, would they exist today ?
If, while supporting society financially, Hindus also offer gold to temples, what is wrong with it ? Why should anyone object to this ? Those who spread misconceptions about such acts must be questioned.
Hence, an earnest appeal to Hindus – ‘Be cautious of those who try to mislead you intellectually, and do not fall prey to their malicious designs’.

The ‘Shabari Seva Samiti’ that helps farmers and donations given by Hindus
We are often told to help farmers and not donate to temples. Yet, many Hindus who donate to temples and pilgrimage centres also generously help organisations working for farmers. Here is one example. An organisation named ‘Shabari Seva Samiti’ headed by Mr Pramod Karandikar and Mrs Ranjana Karandikar, along with their team, work devotedly to provide essential agricultural support to farmers in tribal areas, such as ensuring water supply, digging wells, and financial assistance to tribal women for small businesses. It also provides timely medical aid to the sick and the differently-abled. They conduct mass weddings for young men and women in tribal regions and gift them useful household items.
Hindus donate to this organisation too. There are numerous such organisations being supported by Hindus. Ignoring this while objecting to donations to temples, and simultaneously trying to mislead Hindus intellectually, is part of the same conspiracy. Hindus place donations in temple boxes and also contribute to other social institutions. Hence, an earnest appeal to Hindus through this Article to not get deceived by words that seek to destroy Hindu Dharma and culture.
