Delhi – The advertisement of the recently established search engine ‘Perplexity AI’ has used an incorrect map of India. An important part of Pakistan-occupied Kashmir has been omitted from this map. This advertisement is in Hindi and has been broadcast in India. Due to this, Indians are expressing anger on social media. ‘Perplexity AI’ is a technology establishment and is established in the US. This app is a conversational search engine and is used like Google.
1. According to Indian law, it is a punishable offence to misrepresent the map of India. India has made it clear on several occasions that parts of Jammu and Kashmir and Ladakh, although illegally occupied by Pakistan and China for decades, are and will always be an integral part of India.
2. However, many times, at the international level, a map of India is shown excluding Pakistan-occupied Kashmir.
3. Earlier, the China-based ‘Ablo’ app had incorrectly displayed Jammu and Kashmir and Ladakh, and Lakshadweep was not shown.
4. Due to public outcry against it, the Indian government had directed Google to remove this app from the Play Store.
