Result of the firm stand taken by the Sakal Hindu Samaj

Jaysingpur (Dist. Kolhapur) – Hussein Shaikh, a correspondent of a local daily newspaper, made objectionable remarks about Hindu deities, saying, “Hindu deities are stones. Why do you visit temples ? Why do you make donations there ? Instead, help a living person.” The Sakal Hindu Samaj described these remarks as anti-Hindu.
The Sakal Hindu Samaj immediately submitted a memorandum to the Jaysingpur Police Station demanding legal action against Hussein Shaikh. As a result of the organisation’s firm stand, Shaikh was compelled to issue a written clarification and apologise to Hindus.
Among those present while submitting the memorandum were Shri Rajendra Gadiwadar and Shri Shailendra Lohia of Shri Shivpratishthan Hindustan, Corporator Shri Santosh Jadhav, Shri Mahendra Daingade of the BJP, Shri Mahendra Rajput, Shri Sunil Bhore, Shri Dhirajlal Patel and Shri Kailas Deshmukh of the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS), as well as Shri Sanjay Ghatge of the Hindu Janajagruti Samiti.
In his written apology, Hussein Shaikh stated,
“I express my sincere regret to my Hindu brothers. I had no intention of hurting anyone’s sentiments. I will ensure that my statements do not hurt the sentiments of the Sakal Hindu Samaj.”
